Spike was inspired by how well our New Zealand athletes did in and on the water at the recent Olympic Games and want to help future athletes find their love for water.
He is borrowing some pool space from his friends at Swimsation to help more swimmers in his community have access to learn to swim education by reducing the cost of lessons to one of the cheapest in Auckland – Way to go Spike!
Spike’s Community lessons will pilot at Te Atatu Swimsation for November and December. If they prove to be popular Spike will open the programme at all Swimsation Swim Schools from 1st February 2025.
Key Features of Spike’s Community Lessons:
* $15 per lesson (charged monthly on 1st of the Month)
* 30 minute lessons – with 10 swimmers per class
* 4 Levels – focusing on freestyle and backstroke
* Available on Thursdays from 4pm – more options will become available as programme grows

Spike's Level 1 is for school aged children who are not confident in the water.
In this level our instructor will use fun activities to develop water confidence and water safety.
Key skills taught in Spike's Level 1 include:

Spike’s Level 2 is for school aged who are confident floating unassisted on their front and back.
In this level our instructor will use fun activities to continue to develop water confidence and safety, along with freestyle, backstroke kicking and stroking
Key skills taught in Spike’s Level 2 include:
SPIKE’S LEVEL 3 (30 min)
Spike’s Level 3 is for school aged children who are confident performing freestyle and backstroke arm strokes.
In this level our instructor will use fun activities to continue to develop water confidence and safety. They will also be teaching freestyle breathing technique and increasing swimmers technique and endurance in backstroke.
Key skills taught in Spike’s Level 3 include:
SPIKE’S LEVEL 4 (30 min)
Spike’s Level 4 is for school aged children who are confident performing 25m freestyle and backstroke.
In this level our instructor will use fun activities to continue to develop water confidence and safety. They will be refining their technique and increasing their endurance to be able to swim 200m freestyle and backstroke.
