Our programme for school-aged kids is awesome for children aged 5 and up, no matter their skill level. We’ve got seven levels that are all about having fun while getting more confident in the water, learning how to stay safe and picking up important swimming skills.

We’ve got classes after school and on weekends at our swim schools. Our dedicated team will strive to find you the perfect class for your schedule.

If you’re new to Swimsation and not sure which level your child should be in, no worries. We’ll set up a free assessment to figure out the best fit for your child.

Class Info:

  • Lessons are 30 or 45 minutes (depending on level)
  • Available weekdays and weekends.
  • Group lessons: Up to 6 children in a group.

Program Details:

  • 30 min swimming lessons are $24.00 each, billed monthly (Snapa Level Only)
  • 45 min swimming lessons are $31.50 each, billed monthly
  • Private 30 min swimming lessons available at $70 ($60 at off peak times), billed monthly
  • Six age and ability levels (see below).
  • Parents won’t need to get into the pool. They’ll be in capable hands.

Auckland Swimming Lessons - Swimsation Swim School

SNAPA

Our Snapa level is for school aged children who are not confident in the water.

In this level our instructor will use fun activities to develop water confidence and water safety.

  • 30 minute lessons

    Snapa swim lessons are 30 minutes long, keeping them short, fun, and engaging.

  • Safe entries & exits

    Learning how to enter and leave the pool safely and independently.

  • Submersions

    Getting comfortable putting their face and head underwater.

  • Floating

    Learning to relax and let the water support your body, either on your back or stomach, to conserve energy and stay on the surface.

WHIPA SNAPA

Our Whipa Snapa level is for school aged who are confident floating unassisted on their front and back.

In this level our instructor will use fun activities to continue to develop water confidence and safety, along with freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke kick.

  • 45 minute lessons

    Whipa Snapa lessons are 45 minutes  long to maximise optimal learning, skill development, endurance building, and sustained focus.

  • Freestyle kick

    Alternating up-and-down leg movement, primarily from the hips, used to provide propulsion and maintain balance for freestyle swimming.

  • Backstroke kick

    Alternating up-and-down leg movement similar to the freestyle kick but performed on the back.

  • Rotations from back to front

    The ability to smoothly roll your body from a face-down position to a face-up position in the water, allowing for breathing and rest.

OLLY OCTOPUS

Our Olly Octopus level is for school aged children who are confident kicking unassisted on their front and back.

In this level our instructor will use fun activities to continue to develop water confidence and safety, along with teaching freestyle and backstroke arm strokes.

  • 45 minute lessons

    Olly Octopus lessons are 45 minutes long to maximise optimal learning, skill development, endurance building, and sustained focus.

  • Freestyle Arm Strokes

    Alternating arm movements that pull water from an extended reach forward to a powerful finish by the hip, propelling the swimmer forward.

  • Backstrokes Arm Strokes

    Alternating arm movements that pull water from an overhead reach propelling the swimmer on their back.

  • Breaststroke Kick

    A simultaneous, symmetrical leg movement where the knees bend outwards, feet propel water backward in a circular motion, then legs come together at the finish.

  • Duck Dives

    A controlled head-first entry into the water used to submerge quickly and retrieve items or navigate underwater.

SUPA SEAL

Our Supa Seal level is for school aged children who are confident performing freestyle and backstroke arm strokes.

In this level our instructor will use fun activities to continue to develop water confidence and safety. They will also be teaching freestyle breathing technique and breaststroke.

  • 45 minute lessons

    Supa Seal lessons are 45 minutes  long to maximise optimal learning, skill development, endurance building, and sustained focus.

  • Assisted Freestyle with Bi-lateral Breathing

    Performing the freestyle stroke while a helper provides support, focusing on breathing alternately to both the left and right sides.

  • 15m Backstroke

    Swimming on your back using continuous, alternating arm and leg movements to propel yourself head-first through the water.

  • Float & Signal for Help

    Maintaining a stable float on your back or stomach while actively making clear gestures to alert others you need assistance.

Auckland Swimming Lessons - Swimsation Swim School

AWESOME ORCA

Our Awesome Orca level is for school aged children who are confident at assisted freestyle with bilateral breathing and basic breaststroke.

In this level our instructor will use fun activities to continue to develop water confidence and safety. They will also be refining your child’s technique so they are able to swim 15m freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.

  • 45 minute lessons

    Awesome Orca lessons are 45 minutes  long to maximise optimal learning, skill development, endurance building, and sustained focus.

  • Freestyle with Bi-lateral Breathing

    Performing the freestyle stroke, focusing on breathing alternately to both the left and right sides.

  • Breaststroke 25m

    A symmetrical swimming stroke performed on the stomach, characterised by a simultaneous arm pull, a powerful frog-like kick, and a distinct glide phase.

  • Backstroke 25m

    Swimming on your back using continuous, alternating arm and leg movements to propel yourself through the water.

  • Sculling

    Small, controlled hand movements performed just under the water’s surface to create propulsion or support, often used for balance or to move subtly.

Auckland Swimming Lessons - Swimsation Swim School

GREAT WHITE

The Great White level is the final stage in the Swimsation learn-to-swim journey. Designed for school-aged children who can already swim 25m freestyle and backstroke, this level focuses on building strength, technique, and confidence.

Through fun and engaging activities, our instructors continue to develop water safety skills while refining stroke technique. By the end of this level, your child will be able to swim 50m freestyle and backstroke with confidence, as well as 25m breaststroke.

At the end of the Great White Level swimmers are invited to be part of the Spike Ambassador Programme.

  • Assisted Freestyle with Bi-lateral Breathing

    Performing the freestyle stroke while a helper provides support, focusing on breathing alternately to both the left and right sides.

  • Backstroke

    Swimming on your back using continuous, alternating arm and leg movements to propel yourself through the water.

  • Breaststroke

    A symmetrical swimming stroke performed on the stomach, characterised by a simultaneous arm pull, a powerful frog-like kick, and a distinct glide phase.

  • Treading Water

    Staying upright in the water with your head above the surface, using continuous hand and leg movements to maintain position.
