September Update
🌸 Spring is here – Keep Swimming!
Spring is here, which means warmer weather, longer days and more time spent around the water.
Now is the time to keep swimming and build confidence, swimming skills and water safety knowledge before summer arrives.
Consistent lessons through spring give swimmers time to strengthen their skills and practise what they may need when heading to pools, beaches, rivers and other waterways over the warmer months.
If time allows, why not add a second lesson each week for half price? It’s a great way to give your swimmer some extra practice and help build their skills and confidence before summer.
🌊 September – River Safety
Throughout September, our swimmers will be learning important River Safety and self-rescue skills during their lessons.
Each week will focus on a different skill:
- River Exit & Self Rescue – learning how to safely get out of the water using edges, ropes, branches and other objects.
- Bystander Rescue – Talk, Reach, Throw. Learning how to help someone in trouble without entering the water or putting themselves at risk.
- Sculling Feet First – practising the safest position for moving water: feet first and facing downstream.
- Cold Water Survival – learning to float first, control breathing, stay calm and conserve heat.
Learning to swim is important. Learning how to survive and make safe decisions around water could save some-one’s life.
