Frequently Asked Questions

+ Why should my child learn to swim?

Swimming and especially water safety activities are important life skills for any kiwi kid. We are surrounded by water in this country and are lucky to have access to aquatic facilities in all major towns and cities, so our children will be exposed to water from a young age. Because of this it is vitally important to provide our kids with aquatic education and awareness. Swimming also aids in the social, physical and intellectual development of our little ones.

+ How can I pay for my child's swimming lessons?

There are 3 ways to pay for your child’s swimming lessons:

Option 1 – Pay in person at reception – we accept EFTPOS, credit cards, and cash
Option 2 – Pay via internet banking with the following details:
Account Number: 010102-0893903-02
Reference: Child’s Name
Particulars: Swim School (ie. Papakura)
Option 3 – Pay through your Mindbody account by following the link in your child’s rollover email or invoice

+ How many other students will be in my child's class?

The ratios for each of our classes is based around safely delivering our lesson content. With younger age groups and less confident swimmers you can expect no more than 4 children per class. As our swimmers get older and become more capable swimmers, ratios will increase to 6 per class.

Baby classes will have a maximum of 10 swimmers per class and are run at a higher ratio as each swimmer has a parent or adult in the water with them. Squad classes also have a higher ratio as these swimmers are more advanced, swim more frequently and require less hands on assistance.

+ How long will it take for my child to learn how to swim?

Every child progresses at a different rate and factors such as having limited exposure to water, a fear of water, nervousness or shyness should be taken into account. Like any new skill, swimming needs to be practiced constantly for improvement to take place.

Our instructors will provide your child with constant feedback and correction as well as activities to practice at home to help this progression. Our program and lesson plans are structured to allow step by step progressions for our swimmers.

Year round swimming is encouraged as skills can be lost when taking terms off, and our intensive holiday lessons are a great tool to boost your child’s swimming progression with daily lessons.

+ Do I get a refund if my child misses a lesson?

No. It is Swimsation’s policy that we do not give refunds for missed lessons. We will however, endeavour to provide students who miss lessons the option of attending a make up lesson.
NB: Make up lessons will not necessarily be with the same instructor and can not be carried over into the next term.

+ How long are the lessons?

All Swimsation lessons will run for 25-60 minutes depending on the level the student is at. Please note that lessons will start at the time specified, so please ensure all students are changed and ready to go on time

+ Do I need to stay for the duration of my child's lesson?

Yes. Swimsation requires that parents/guardians of students is to remain in the facility for the duration of their child’s lesson. This is not only because it is safe practice to be watching your child while they are in or around water, but it also allows for quick and efficient changeovers between classes.
